Connecticut Green Bank and GoodLeap Launch AI-Powered Virtual Power Plants

August 13, 2025
Connecticut Green Bank and GoodLeap have partnered to create AI-powered Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) in Connecticut, aiming to enhance grid reliability and reduce energy costs for homeowners.

The Connecticut Green Bank and GoodLeap have announced a strategic partnership to develop AI-powered Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) across Connecticut, announced in a press release. This initiative, part of the State's Energy Storage Solutions program, aims to deploy residential solar systems and battery energy storage to lower energy costs and improve grid resilience.

GoodLeap's AI-powered software, GoodGrid, will enable the aggregation of thousands of residential solar and storage systems into coordinated networks. These networks will provide grid services such as peak demand reduction, potentially deferring distribution infrastructure investments for utilities. This approach is expected to lower costs for homeowners by avoiding more expensive energy sources during peak times.

Eligible homeowners in Connecticut will benefit from monthly cash rewards through the GoodGrid cash rewards program. The Connecticut Green Bank will support the partnership by providing technical assistance to streamline project development and interconnection, as well as engaging with stakeholders and communities to boost awareness and participation.

This collaboration marks a significant step towards advancing Connecticut's clean energy goals, with a focus on ensuring equitable access to distributed energy resources for all residents, particularly those in vulnerable communities.
