Commvault Adds Google Threat Intelligence to Threat Scan

Commvault announced in a press release a new integration with Google Threat Intelligence that adds Google threat data and scanning capabilities to Commvault Threat Scan workflows. The integration is designed to help customers check protected workloads for malware and identify which recovery points may be compromised after a cyberattack.

Google Threat Intelligence combines Mandiant intelligence, VirusTotal data, and Google threat insights. Commvault said Threat Scan customers will receive threat context from Google Threat Intelligence for threats found in their environments, supporting further research and remediation.

Commvault is also adding scanning capabilities that collect file hashes during backup operations. The hashes can be checked against threat intelligence indicators to help teams identify clean files for recovery, with deeper malware, encryption, and forensic analysis available when needed.

The Google Threat Intelligence integration, inline scanning capabilities, and Threat Scan updates are expected to be available in the coming months. Commvault will show the integration during a Google Theater Session at Black Hat on August 4.
