Cognex to Acquire RealSense for $500 Million

Cognex will acquire robotic perception company RealSense for about $500 million in cash. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Cognex Corporation will acquire RealSense for approximately $500 million, the company announced in a press release. Cognex will fund the purchase with existing cash and investments.

RealSense develops depth sensing cameras and vision technology for fixed arm robots, autonomous mobile robots, quadrupeds, and humanoid robots. The company expects revenue of $80 million to $90 million in 2026, representing growth of more than 50 percent from the prior year.

The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary conditions. Before closing, RealSense will spin out its Facial Authentication product line into an independent company. Cognex also expects to provide a three year employee retention program worth $56.5 million in cash at target and restricted stock units valued at approximately $50 million.
