Civic Uses AI to Organize Constituent Messages

Civic connects messages from email, website forms and staff conversations in one inbox, where AI categorizes topics and updates constituent records.

Civic uses AI to help government offices organize constituent messages, according to a press release about an interview with CEO Jon Kokot. The platform connects with Outlook, Gmail and website forms, while a mobile app lets staff record in person conversations.

Civic brings messages, contact histories and service requests into a central inbox. Its AI categorizes messages by topic, updates constituent records and creates geographic heat maps that show where concerns originate. Phone calls and voicemail still require manual entry.

A New York City local office uses the platform to process 311 requests and route issues to relevant departments. Staff can identify residents who need updates, while the AI assistant compiles reports on recurring topics. Civic is also being tested in a beta environment by early adopters in the U.S. House of Representatives.
