PALO ALTO, Calif. — announced in a press release, Chai AI has deployed a dedicated cluster of more than 5,000 GPUs to accelerate post-training research on large language model alignment and safety. The infrastructure supports the company’s focus on integrating performance improvements with human-centered safety mechanisms.

The new cluster enables real-time optimization of Chai’s proprietary suicide and self-harm classifiers, which detect signs of distress and trigger referrals to human-led support resources. This approach is part of what the company calls its “Safe Scaling” initiative, which treats safety as a measurable performance factor during model refinement.

Chai AI also outlined several regulatory compliance measures. The platform now enforces an 18+ global age mandate, has introduced enhanced age verification for Australian users, and launched an in-app global safety center detailing its safety framework. These steps align with the company’s broader goal of meeting international safety standards while maintaining conversational model quality.
