Anthropic reaches $16.8B in quarterly revenue, Meta opens Muse Spark Open, and more - Daily AI Brief #559
Over the past two years AI Brief has grown into a website, 19 LinkedIn pages with more than 81,000 followers and 15 newsletters with more than 41,000 subscribers. Thank you for reading, following and passing it on.
Until now, our newsletters were assembled automatically: the news assigned to each newsletter went into a simple template. From today, our small team, Maiko, Rene and Stefan, edits every edition so it reads as one storyline: related news together, the important stories explained, the rest kept short. We still use AI tooling throughout, and we decide what goes in and how it is told.
In this edition, covering 14 to 16 October:
- Anthropic reportedly reached $16.8 billion in Q3 revenue, while its reported IPO valuation fell to $1.5 trillion.
- Meta released the weights of an 816 billion parameter model.
- Ramp raised $1.85 billion at a $60 billion valuation.

In Washington, Anthropic showed lawmakers a draft bill of its own. It would only allow government action against advanced models for a foreseeable, imminent risk of more than $1 billion in damage or more than 50 deaths or serious injuries, and it would override some state AI safety laws. Anthropic also opened an office in Singapore, its fifth in Asia Pacific, and signed an AI safety memorandum with the Singapore government. Singapore
