XPENG Brings Google Play to Vehicle Cockpits in 2027
XPENG will add Google Play directly to its vehicle cockpits in early 2027, the automaker announced in a press release. Drivers and passengers will gain access to hundreds of apps from more than 100 countries and regions without requiring a phone.
The integration uses Android Automotive OS and covers music, podcasts, video streaming, navigation, charging, parking, news and games for use while parked. XPENG's multilingual voice assistant will open and interact with downloaded apps, while Google Play can deliver app updates without major vehicle software updates.
XPENG previously integrated the Google Maps Auto SDK for navigation and driver assistance systems in overseas markets. The company will disclose participating models, markets and app availability later.
