Wisconsin Agency Signed Five Data Center Secrecy Agreements
Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation signed at least five nondisclosure agreements with AI data center developers, according to a Wisconsin Watch report published by Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service. The findings bring the number of data center projects in Wisconsin known to have used such agreements to eight.
The agency signed agreements 23 months before a Menomonie project became public and 19 months before Meta's Beaver Dam data center was disclosed. It also signed agreements covering projects in DeForest, Mount Pleasant and Port Washington.
State Rep. Clint Moses plans to expand proposed legislation banning data center nondisclosure agreements to include the state agency. His original bill applied only to local governments and received no hearings after its introduction in January.
