Vortex Imaging Raises $12 Million to Advance Computational Ultrasound System
Vortex Imaging has closed a $12 million financing round announced in a press release. The round included participation from existing and new investors such as 10D Ventures, Entrée Capital, Harel T.E.C Partnership, Connecticut Innovations, and PhiFund Ventures.
The funding will support development, regulatory clearance, and market launch of Vortex Imaging's computational ultrasound system. The company is building a compact imaging platform that uses GPU cloud-based reconstruction to deliver high-quality 3D volumetric imaging at the point of care. The system is designed to provide standardized volumetric datasets with reduced operator dependency while maintaining the portability and safety of ultrasound.
As part of the announcement, Vortex Imaging expanded its board leadership. Ori Hadomi, former CEO of Mazor Robotics and Vice President at Medtronic, was appointed Chairman of the Board. Other new members include Chris Cleary, former Medtronic executive; Yahal Zilka of 10D Ventures; and Dr. Yael Grunbaum of Entree Capital.
The company's initial clinical focus is on urology and nephrology, with plans to extend the technology to additional diagnostic and procedural areas.
