Announced in a press release, Verne, Pony AI, and Uber have partnered to launch Europe’s first commercial robotaxi service, beginning in Zagreb, Croatia. Initial deployment work is already underway, including testing on public roads.

Under the partnership, Pony.ai will supply its autonomous driving technology, Verne will act as fleet owner and service operator, and Uber will integrate the service into its global ride-hailing platform. Verne will also manage regulatory approvals and coordinate the rollout across both Verne’s and Uber’s networks.

The companies plan to expand the service to additional European cities and other markets over the next few years, with the goal of scaling to thousands of robotaxis. The first vehicles in Zagreb use Pony.ai’s Gen-7 autonomous driving system installed on the Arcfox Alpha T5 Robotaxi model.

Uber also intends to invest in Verne as part of the collaboration and support future expansion of the autonomous ride-hailing service.
