Valence AI Raises $5 Million and Secures Patents for Emotional Detection in Speech
Valence AI has raised $5 million in total funding and secured two U.S. patents for its technology that detects emotional states from live speech using deep learning, announced in a press release. The seed round was led by Differential Ventures, with participation from Difference Partners, Willowtree Ventures, Change Paradox Ventures, and SRI International.
The patents cover Valence AI's proprietary signal processing method for identifying emotional states in real time during live conversations. One patent addresses how the company converts raw audio into emotion classifications while normalizing for pitch and timbre. The second patent extends the approach to include live haptic feedback.
Valence AI’s Pulse Emotion model analyzes tone, pacing, and other vocal cues to classify emotional states in real time, producing structured data that can be used alongside transcripts and intent. The company reports 92 percent accuracy on internal benchmarks and deployments that have reduced handle time by 30 percent.
The new funding will support expansion of language coverage beyond English, integrations with voice AI orchestration platforms, and new hires across engineering and customer success. Current customers include Harte Hanks, CustomerHD, and BPO Centers.
