Upbeat Technology and SiFive Announce Dual-Core RISC-V MCU with AI Acceleration
The collaboration between Upbeat Technology and SiFive has resulted in the introduction of the UP201 and UP301 family of microcontrollers, announced in a press release. These dual-core RISC-V MCUs feature integrated AI acceleration designed to deliver high performance with minimal power consumption.
The UP201/UP301 family combines two SiFive Essential IP cores with two AI accelerators developed by Upbeat. The chips achieve energy efficiency of 16.8 µW/MHz/DMIPS and operate at up to 400 MHz or 717 DMIPS. They are built for always-on applications including IoT devices, wearables, drones, and edge AI inference.
Upbeat’s patented Error Detection and Correction architecture and SRAM design contribute to the MCU’s energy efficiency and reliability. The new microcontrollers will be demonstrated at the RISC-V Summit in Santa Clara, California, on October 22–23, 2025.
