United We Care and Mason County Launch AI-Driven Mental Health Pilot

United We Care and Mason County have launched a pioneering digital mental health pilot in rural Washington, announced in a press release. This initiative provides 24/7 confidential access to mental health and substance use support, addressing the shortage of mental health professionals in the area.

The program features Stella, an AI wellness agent capable of thinking, reasoning, and connecting with users. It offers self-guided therapy content, substance use risk screening, and referrals to licensed therapists. In its initial phase, 50% of users booked sessions with mental health providers, and 93% engaged with the AI companion.

The pilot aims to overcome barriers such as geographic isolation and stigma by offering remote, insurance-covered support. Early results show promising engagement, with 42% of users returning to the app and Stella identifying high-risk situations in real time. United We Care plans to expand the pilot across Washington and explore broader rollout opportunities.
