Ukraine and NATO Develop AI Models for Drone Forecasting and Artillery Planning
Ukraine's Defense Forces and NATO developed two AI models for battlefield analysis, according to Mezha. One forecasts hostile drone use near the line of contact, while the other helps plan artillery operations.
The drone model analyzes historical data, weather and current battlefield conditions. It was tested with operational datasets, refined and prepared for integration into situational awareness systems used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The artillery model automatically generates and evaluates possible courses of action. Its prototype was transferred to Ukraine's Defense Forces for testing and verification. Both models were developed with support from the NATO Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre and presented at a workshop in Vilnius.
