Tuya Smart unveiled Doova, an AI home companion robot that offers emergency monitoring, daily assistance and smart home controls for seniors who live independently.

Tuya Smart unveiled Doova, an AI home companion robot for seniors who live independently, the company announced in a press release. The robot debuted at IFA 2026 in Berlin and combines emergency monitoring, daily assistance, wellness features and smart home controls.

Doova uses LDS LiDAR, four microphones and AI vision based skeletal recognition to detect possible falls and other emergencies. A user can say "Hey Tuya, help" to summon the robot. If the person does not respond within 60 seconds, Doova can start an emergency workflow and send family members a live video alert with two way communication.

A multimodal large language model supports conversations, reminders, games and help with interpreting bills and letters. Doova can also identify possible scams, scan rooms, create home safety reports, control connected appliances and return to its dock for charging. It has a 10.1 inch display and uses facial expressions during interactions.
