trutility launched as a grid infrastructure developer, owner, and operator for battery storage, community solar, distributed generation, and microgrids, announced in a press release.

The platform is backed by Distributed Sun, which contributed a front of meter development portfolio and intellectual property through its trucurrent subsidiary. The company said the platform is supported by more than $1 billion in capital investment.

trutility owns the contributed assets, customer relationships, and operating system. Its portfolio includes battery storage at MW to GWh scale, community solar projects across multiple states, operating microgrids, 24 front of meter battery storage sites, and distributed portfolios across 14 utility rate territories.

The company said its system uses autonomous agents to combine site, policy, underwriting, cost, calendar, and return data. Distributed Sun also cited a recently energized EV fleet charging microgrid built through a PG&E Flex Connect partnership, completed four months after groundbreaking.
