President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing executive branch departments and agencies to use “super intelligence” and “SI” instead of “artificial intelligence” and “AI.”

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on September 29 implementing his plan to rename artificial intelligence as “super intelligence”, the White House stated in an announcement.

The order directs departments and agencies across the U.S. Government executive branch to use “super intelligence” and “SI” in official correspondence, public communications, policy documents, and other documents not established by statute. They must stop using “artificial intelligence” and “AI” in those materials.

The Assistant to the President for Science and Technology must propose a federal definition of the new terms. The official must also identify any additional executive action needed to implement that definition.
