TransMedics and Mercedes-Benz Launch Organ Transport Network in Italy
TransMedics Group, Inc. has announced a strategic collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Group AG to launch a dedicated organ transportation network in Italy. This initiative will deploy a fleet of modern, purpose-built Mercedes-Benz V-class vehicles exclusively for organ transportation across the country. announced in a press release, the collaboration aims to replicate TransMedics' successful U.S. National Organ Procurement (NOP) model in Europe by establishing a comprehensive air and ground logistics network.
The initial hubs for the Italian NOP are expected to be operational by the end of 2025. These hubs will provide 24/7 technological, clinical, and logistical support to enhance donor organ utilization for transplants throughout Italy. This strategic move is part of TransMedics' broader strategy to improve organ transplant logistics and increase the efficiency of organ utilization in Europe.
