Tesco Signs Three-Year Generative AI Agreement with Mistral AI
Announced in a press release, Tesco has signed a three-year agreement with French startup Mistral AI to expand the use of generative artificial intelligence across its business operations.
The partnership grants Tesco full access to Mistral AI’s commercial models and future developments, as well as collaboration with the company’s AI engineers. The two organizations will establish a joint “AI lab” to co-develop generative AI tools aimed at improving areas such as content creation, document drafting, and data analysis.
The collaboration will also explore ways to make internal information more accessible to Tesco employees, supporting faster decision-making and improved customer service. Tesco’s technology team, which has doubled in size over the past five years, will work closely with Mistral’s Applied AI team to integrate customizable and controllable AI products.
Mistral AI, launched in April 2023, is Europe’s only frontier AI company building large language models and has existing partnerships with firms including HSBC, AXA, and Stellantis.
