Terra AI has secured $20 million in Series A funding led by Khosla Ventures with participation from BHP Ventures to scale its AI platform that models subsurface geology for mineral, energy, and carbon storage exploration.

Terra AI has raised $20 million in Series A funding led by Khosla Ventures with strategic investment from BHP Ventures, announced in a press release. The company develops an artificial intelligence platform that integrates exploration data to generate millions of geological models for mineral, energy, and carbon storage projects.

The funding will support scaling of Terra AI’s generative modeling engine, expansion of enterprise deployments, and advancement of its subsurface inference technology. The platform enables explorers to create geologically realistic 3D models in minutes, helping teams assess drilling and geophysical strategies and evaluate project economics earlier in the development process.

Terra AI’s system combines geophysics, geochemistry, and drilling data to produce probabilistic subsurface models, reducing uncertainty and improving decision making in exploration. The company’s technology is used across copper, gold, rare earth, and reservoir projects, and is being extended to carbon storage site evaluation.
