Tenstorrent to Launch Pay-Per-Use AI Chip Service in Japan

Tenstorrent plans to introduce a pay-per-use AI chip service in Japan this fall, charging users based on data processed rather than upfront costs.

Tenstorrent, an American semiconductor company, is set to launch a pay-per-use AI chip service in Japan as early as this fall, . This innovative service model charges users based on the amount of data processed, rather than requiring upfront payment for graphics processors and servers, potentially reducing costs for AI developers.

Founded in 2016, Tenstorrent is led by a former Apple chip design engineer. In Japan, the company collaborates with Rapidus on technology and human resource development. Rapidus is focused on the mass production of advanced semiconductor devices.

The service is backed by notable investors, including Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. This new offering could provide a cost-effective solution for AI startups, enabling them to develop products without the financial burden of purchasing their own hardware.
