SQC and Schneider Electric Get A$3.6 Million for Quantum Energy Forecasting
SQC and Schneider Electric received A$3.6 million from the Australian government to continue work on quantum energy forecasting, the companies said in a press release. The project advanced to Stage 2 of the Critical Technologies Challenge Program and also involves UNSW Sydney.
During Stage 1, the companies used SQC's Watermelon system alongside classical models to forecast household energy demand for the following day. Testing across 12 months produced an average accuracy improvement of 20% over the classical benchmark, with gains reaching 41%.
Stage 2 will expand the models to data from hundreds of Australian homes. The companies will also integrate the system directly into Schneider Electric's AI workflows for managing distributed energy resources such as rooftop solar, home batteries and electric vehicles.
