SpiderOak has been accepted into the Defense Innovation Unit’s Blue UAS Recognized Assessor Program, announced in a press release. The designation authorizes SpiderOak to perform cybersecurity evaluations on unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and ground control platforms to verify compliance with U.S. Government baseline requirements under the National Defense Authorization Act.

As a Recognized Assessor, SpiderOak will use its Tactical Edge Cyberservices to deliver independent cybersecurity assessments for UAS platforms. These evaluations will cover hardware, firmware, software, and supply chain provenance to ensure adherence to standards such as NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, and Executive Order 14028.

SpiderOak has partnered with Ridgeline International to perform hardware penetration testing, reverse engineering assessments, and subcomponent supply chain forensics. The company’s work within the Blue UAS framework supports the certification of compliant and resilient UAS for U.S. Government missions, including intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations.
