Sonar Acquires Gitar to Integrate AI Code Review into SonarQube Platform
SonarSource SA has acquired Gitar, an AI based code review platform, announced in a press release. The acquisition will integrate Gitar's review capabilities into Sonar's verification engine, enabling code analysis from the moment AI agents begin writing code through to deployment.
SonarQube, the company's main verification platform, will now include AI code review features that analyze syntax, data flows, logic, and dependencies while enforcing organizational standards. Gitar will continue to operate as a standalone product and will also be available bundled with SonarQube and SonarQube Advanced Security.
Gitar founders Ali-Reza Adl-Tabatabai and Gautam Korlam will join Sonar to lead the continued development of the Gitar platform. The integration aims to provide accurate, consistent, and auditable code verification while reducing operational overhead and improving quality assurance for AI generated code.
Sonar stated that its unified platform will support tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Devin, and GitHub Copilot, allowing enterprises to maintain security and reliability in AI assisted software development.
