Sea Ltd has signed an MOU with OpenAI to enhance AI accessibility in Southeast Asia, starting with Shopee offering ChatGPT Plus to VIP members.

Sea Ltd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with OpenAI to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in Southeast Asia. The collaboration aims to make advanced AI tools more accessible to consumers and small businesses in the region.

The partnership will leverage Sea's digital platforms and regional expertise alongside OpenAI's cutting-edge AI technology. The focus will be on enhancing AI applications in commerce, payments, and distribution, thereby lowering barriers to AI adoption.

As the first initiative under this agreement, Sea's e-commerce platform Shopee will offer three months of complimentary access to ChatGPT Plus for its VIP members in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. This benefit will be available starting August 8, 2025, as part of Shopee's 8.8 Sales Campaign. VIP members will gain access to faster response speeds and early use of new features like ChatGPT Agent.

The initiative is expected to expand to additional markets as Shopee VIP grows regionally, further supporting Sea's commitment to digital transformation and community empowerment through technology.
