OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will address a UN Security Council meeting on artificial intelligence and international security. His remarks will cover international coordination and shared safety standards.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will brief the United Nations Security Council on artificial intelligence and international security on Wednesday, according to Reuters. He will attend the open meeting in person during the UN General Assembly gathering in New York.

An OpenAI spokesperson said Altman will discuss international coordination, shared safety standards and the company's safety measures. Diplomats also expect senior representatives from Anthropic to attend, although its participation remains unconfirmed.

France convened the meeting and French Foreign Minister Jean Noël Barrot will chair it. The 15 member council first met to discuss AI risks in 2023.
