Probably Genetic Gets Up to $10M ARPA-H Contract for Rare Disease AI

Probably Genetic has been awarded up to $10 million from ARPA-H under the agency's RAPID program, the company announced in a press release.

The San Francisco company will use the funding to expand a patient driven AI platform for rare genetic disease diagnosis. The work is part of ARPA-H's Rare Disease AI/ML for Precision Integrated Diagnostics program.

Probably Genetic plans to aggregate clinical records, patient reported information, and biological data, including DNA, from patients and caregivers. The dataset will be used to train AI models that identify undiagnosed patients and support drug development tasks such as target discovery, patient stratification, and clinical trial endpoint selection.

The company says it has collected data from more than 120,000 patients and worked with more than 50 patient advocacy groups and more than 15 biopharmaceutical companies. Through RAPID, it will expand its patient data submission portal across hundreds of rare diseases and recruit people with established diagnoses who meet program criteria.
