Pony AI and Uber Partner to Launch Robotaxis
Pony AI and Uber have announced a strategic partnership to deploy Pony AI's Robotaxis on the Uber platform, announced in a press release. The collaboration will initially launch in a key market in the Middle East later this year, with plans to expand to additional international markets in the future.
When a rider requests a qualifying ride on the Uber app, they may have the option to be transported by a Pony AI autonomous vehicle. During the initial pilot phase, these vehicles will include a safety operator onboard until the companies achieve a fully autonomous commercial launch.
This partnership marks a significant step in Pony AI's global expansion strategy, leveraging its advanced autonomous driving system to facilitate the mass production of Robotaxis. The collaboration aims to integrate autonomous vehicles into Uber's platform more quickly and safely as it expands to new markets.
