Pony AI and Sunlight Mobility Partner to Expand Robotaxi Fleet in China
Pony AI has expanded its partnership with Sunlight Mobility to adopt an asset-light model for its autonomous vehicle operations, announced in a press release. The collaboration aims to accelerate the deployment of Pony AI’s Gen-7 Robotaxi fleet across China.
Under the agreement, Sunlight Mobility will finance the Gen-7 Robotaxi vehicles, with the first batch scheduled for deployment in Guangzhou before the end of 2025. The companies plan to extend the rollout to additional Chinese cities in the following years.
This partnership builds on the companies’ initial collaboration established in June 2024. The arrangement allows third parties to fund fleet deployment while leasing Pony AI’s Virtual Driver for commercial use, reflecting growing market support for the company’s robotaxi model.
Sunlight Mobility will integrate its digital mobility platform with Pony AI’s systems to coordinate fleet supply and enhance operational efficiency. Both firms will share economic benefits from the combined autonomous driving vehicle platform.
