Poll Finds 64% of US Adults Say AI Is Developing Too Quickly
AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research reported that 64% of US adults think AI technology is developing too quickly. The figure includes 76% of Democrats and 54% of Republicans, while 8% of adults say development is too slow and 25% say it is moving at about the right pace.
About eight in 10 adults say the US government should give high priority to keeping AI under human control and protecting US workers. Democrats and Republicans expressed similar support for those priorities, but differed more on limiting environmental harm and competing with other countries.
Thirty one percent approve of President Trump's handling of AI, while 39% trust neither major party to manage the technology well. The poll surveyed 2,140 adults from September 24 to 28 and has a margin of sampling error of 2.9 percentage points.
