Plus Completes Semi-Autonomous Truck Test with DSV and IVECO

Plus has successfully completed testing of its semi-autonomous trucks in collaboration with DSV, dm-drogerie markt, and IVECO, paving the way for future autonomous vehicle deployments.

Plus has successfully completed the testing of its semi-autonomous trucks in collaboration with partners DSV, dm-drogerie markt, and IVECO, announced in a press release. The tests, conducted in Krefeld, Germany, involved IVECO trucks equipped with Plus's semi-autonomous driver assistance technology.

The project, which spanned several months, focused on real-world testing of the technology on routes between warehouses in Krefeld and Hennef. The results demonstrated significant improvements in safety, efficiency, and fuel economy, confirming the potential benefits of autonomous trucking technology.

The semi-autonomous trucks, developed jointly by Plus and IVECO, feature advanced sensors and AI-based driving solutions that enhance safety and comfort by providing a 360-degree view around the vehicle. The technology supports various driving maneuvers, including lane centering and adaptive driving, while reducing fuel consumption by approximately 10%.

This successful test marks a significant step towards the commercial availability of factory-produced self-driving trucks, expected to launch in the US by 2027 and in Europe thereafter. The initiative aims to address the driver shortage in Europe by elevating the role of drivers and creating new job opportunities in the logistics sector.
