Peak Energy Raises $108 Million to Scale Sodium Ion Storage

Oct 21, 2026
Peak Energy raised $108 million in a Series B round led by General Motors Ventures. The company will expand manufacturing and bring its sodium ion storage systems to data centers.

Peak Energy said in a press release that it raised $108 million in an oversubscribed Series B round led by General Motors Ventures. Maverick Silicon, Infinite Capital, Eclipse, Xora Innovation and LG Technology Ventures also participated.

The company will use the funding to expand domestic manufacturing, fulfill more than $1 billion in customer orders and offer its passively cooled sodium ion energy storage platform to data centers. Peak Energy says its system requires no planned maintenance and can reduce energy costs by up to 20% compared with conventional storage systems.

Peak Energy plans to begin production at its 4 GWh factory in Sacramento, California, in the first quarter of 2027. The company partnered with General Motors in June to develop sodium ion battery cells for energy storage.
