Palo Alto Networks to Acquire Portkey to Secure AI Agents
Cybersecurity company Palo Alto Networks announced its intent to acquire Portkey, a company specializing in AI gateway technology, in a press release. The acquisition aims to strengthen security for autonomous AI agents as enterprises expand their use of AI systems.
Portkey provides a centralized control platform that manages and protects AI agents, processing trillions of tokens each month with low latency. Its system enforces security and governance policies, supports 99.99 percent uptime through semantic routing and automated failovers, and offers centralized management for AI models and agents.
Following completion, expected in the fourth quarter of Palo Alto Networks’ fiscal 2026, Portkey’s technology will become part of Prisma AIRS. The integration will enable monitoring, routing, and securing of AI transactions across enterprise environments while continuing support for existing Portkey customers.
