Oracle and BorderPlex to Power Project Jupiter with Bloom Energy Fuel Cells

Oracle and BorderPlex Digital Assets will use Bloom Energy fuel cells to power Project Jupiter, an AI data center campus in Doña Ana County, New Mexico, announced in a press release. The facility will operate on a microgrid supported by up to 2.45 gigawatts of Bloom fuel cell capacity, replacing previously planned gas turbines and diesel generators.

The fuel cells generate electricity without combustion, reducing nitrogen oxide emissions by about 92 percent compared to gas turbines and using minimal water. Oracle will cover all energy costs for the project, ensuring no effect on local electricity rates or grid stability. The data center will also employ closed-loop cooling systems to reduce water consumption.

Project Jupiter will consolidate operations into a single campus and is expected to become one of the largest data center microgrids in the United States. Construction remains on schedule. Oracle anticipates creating 4,000 construction jobs and supporting 1,500 permanent positions. The company has also committed over 400 million dollars to local infrastructure, education, and community programs in southern New Mexico.
