OpenTug and Telegraph Partner to Connect Barge and Rail Freight Visibility
OpenTug and Telegraph Logistics announced in a press release a partnership to deliver integrated visibility across North American barge and rail freight networks. The collaboration aims to unify operational planning for terminals that manage both transport modes.
The integration combines OpenTug's barge voyage management platform with Telegraph's rail intelligence system. This setup provides terminals, traders, and logistics teams with a single operational view of inbound freight from both water and rail. Using OpenTug's barge positioning data and Telegraph's predictive rail arrival times, operators can view converging arrivals, anticipate scheduling conflicts, and coordinate resources more efficiently.
The companies stated that the solution will reduce idle time for railcars and barges, lower demurrage exposure, and improve control over facility operations. It also allows better coordination for shared storage capacity and scheduling, while expanding optimization opportunities across different modes of transportation.
