OpenSSF Adds New Members and Releases Python Secure Coding Guide
Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF) announced in a press release the addition of five new members, the launch of a cyber reasoning sandbox project, and the release of version 1.0.0 of its Python Secure Coding Guide. The announcement was made during OpenSSF Community Day North America in Minneapolis on May 21, 2026.
The new cyber reasoning sandbox, known as OSS-CRS, has joined the foundation's sandbox program to encourage experimentation and collaboration on open source security tools. The release of the Python Secure Coding Guide provides developers with structured guidance to reduce vulnerabilities in Python-based projects.
OpenSSF also introduced its first class of ambassadors to help expand community engagement and promote secure development practices across industries. These initiatives reflect the foundation's ongoing efforts to strengthen open source software security through technical resources and community collaboration.
