OpenAI Launches Sora App and Sora 2 Model
OpenAI has launched the Sora app, a new social platform designed to compete with TikTok, alongside the release of the Sora 2 model, announced on their website. The Sora app allows users to generate and share videos in a TikTok-style feed, featuring a unique 'cameos' function that lets users insert themselves into AI-generated scenes.
The Sora 2 model is an advancement over its predecessor, offering more realistic video generation by adhering to the laws of physics. This improvement is evident in scenarios like a basketball shot missing and rebounding off the backboard, rather than teleporting to the hoop. The app is currently available for iOS users in the U.S. and Canada, with plans for broader expansion.
Users can upload a one-time video and audio recording to verify their identity, enabling them to use their likeness in generated videos. The app also includes parental controls via ChatGPT, allowing parents to manage content and interaction settings for their children.
The Sora app is free at launch, with monetization plans to charge for additional video generation during high demand periods. Sora app aims to provide a creative and interactive platform for users to explore the capabilities of AI-generated content.
