OpenAI Offers One-Year Free ChatGPT Go Plan to Users in India

October 28, 2025
OpenAI is making its ChatGPT Go plan free for one year to all users in India who sign up starting November 4, as part of a limited-time promotion aimed at expanding its footprint in the country.

OpenAI is offering its ChatGPT Go plan free for one year to users in India who register during a limited promotional period starting November 4. The company said existing ChatGPT Go subscribers in the country will also receive the 12-month free plan.

ChatGPT Go, which launched in India in August at under $5 per month, provides ten times the usage limits of the free version and includes features such as image generation, file uploads, and improved memory for personalized responses. The plan later expanded to Indonesia and 16 other countries across Asia.

India has become one of OpenAI’s largest markets, with the company opening a New Delhi office in August and building a local team. The move follows rapid adoption of ChatGPT in the country, where the app has seen millions of downloads but relatively low in-app revenue compared to the United States.

OpenAI is expected to share additional India-focused announcements at its DevDay Exchange event in Bengaluru on November 4.
