Open Navigation and 3Laws Partner to Integrate Safety Layer with Nav2 Platform

October 30, 2025
Open Navigation LLC and 3Laws have announced a partnership to integrate the Nav2 open-source navigation platform with 3Laws' universal safety layer, offering developers enhanced safety and performance tools for robotics applications.

Open Navigation LLC and 3Laws have announced a strategic partnership to integrate the Nav2 open-source navigation platform with 3Laws’ universal safety layer, according to a press release. The collaboration aims to improve the safety and scalability of autonomous and human-operated robotics systems.

The integration introduces 3Laws Supervisor ROS as a free community tier, allowing developers to incorporate adaptive safety guardrails directly into their robotics projects. Nav2, already used by more than 300 companies, provides production-grade navigation capabilities, while 3Laws adds real-time obstacle response and collision avoidance without relying on emergency stop mechanisms.

The partnership will be showcased at ROSCon 2025 in Singapore, where Open Navigation CEO Steve Macenski will present a session on the Nav2 Route Server. Both companies plan to demonstrate how combining Nav2 and 3Laws can accelerate the deployment of safe, reliable robotic systems in complex environments.
