Nxera to Train and Hire 500 for AI Data Centre Roles
Nxera, the regional data centre arm of Singtel, has announced plans to train and hire more than 500 individuals for roles related to data centres and digital functions. This initiative is part of Singapore's broader ambitions to enhance its capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI). The announcement was made during Nxera's inaugural Sustainable AI Data Centre Career Day, held in conjunction with the SkillsFuture Festival 2025.
The recruitment and training efforts are designed to support the TechSkills Accelerator (TeSA) for ITE and Polytechnics Alliance (TIP Alliance), which aims to improve employment outcomes for graduates from technical institutes and polytechnics. Nxera's initiative includes a direct pathway to its Work-Study Degree Programme with the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT).
Nxera, along with its industry partners, is focusing on hiring fresh graduates and mid-career professionals across various functions, including consultancy, design, engineering, and operations. This move comes as Singapore plans to expand its data centre capacity by more than one-third in the coming years, addressing the talent shortage in the rapidly growing digital and AI sectors.
Additionally, Nxera is committed to upskilling its workforce in AI operations and sustainability through co-curated courses with educational institutions such as SIT, Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic, and ITE. The company has also established a Sustainable AI Data Centre Academy to address the talent gap in new areas like sustainability and high-density AI environments.
