Nscale to Supply 66,000 NVIDIA Rubin GPUs for Microsoft in Portugal
Nscale will deliver more than 66,000 NVIDIA Rubin GPUs to Microsoft at the Start Campus site in Sines, Portugal, beginning in late 2027, according to a press release. The agreement expands on an earlier deployment of 12,600 NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPUs already installed at the first building of the SINES Data Campus.
As part of the new arrangement, Nscale will invest 230 million euros in shared infrastructure and 465 million euros in constructing a second 200 megawatt building at the site. This expansion is one of the largest AI infrastructure projects in the European Union and among the biggest in Portugal.
The SINES Data Campus is fully permitted for 1.2 gigawatts of capacity, providing a clear path for ongoing expansion. The project will use NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 systems to support advanced AI workloads and further strengthen Portugal’s role as a hub for European AI development.
The collaboration builds on Nscale’s previous deployments for Microsoft in Norway, the United Kingdom, and the United States, reflecting growing demand for large scale AI compute infrastructure across multiple regions.
