Nirvana Secures $80M to Expand AI-Powered Trucking Insurance
Nirvana, an AI-powered insurance platform for the trucking industry, has raised $80 million in a Series C funding round, valuing the company at $830 million. The funding was led by General Catalyst, with participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners and Valor Equity Partners. This investment more than doubles Nirvana's previous valuation of $350 million in October 2023.
The San Francisco-based startup uses real-time driving telematics and extensive truck driving data to create and manage insurance policies for truckers. The new funds will be used to develop additional services for both fleet operators and individual drivers. Nirvana's CEO, Rushil Goel, described the funding round as "pre-emptive," driven by inbound interest rather than an immediate need for capital.
Nirvana's platform offers insurance on a "pay as you drive" basis, incorporating safety data from telematics and regulatory sources. The company claims its AI tools can automate and expedite claims processing, providing quotes significantly faster than traditional insurers. With premiums under management exceeding $100 million, Nirvana is positioned to support the trucking industry amid economic challenges, including potential impacts from new tariffs on goods imported from Mexico and Canada.
