Netwrix Finds Identity Governance Gaps at 79% of Healthcare Organizations
Netwrix said in a press release that 79% of surveyed healthcare organizations do not fully govern AI agents and other nonhuman identities. The company also found that 75% said AI and automation increased identity related risks to sensitive data over the past two years, while 70% said data access governance was trailing AI adoption.
Thirty one percent of healthcare respondents reported unauthorized identities accessing sensitive data during the past year, compared with 24% in other industries. Among healthcare organizations that experienced an incident, 33% estimated the cost exceeded $250,000.
Only 14% of healthcare organizations were fully confident that their Active Directory environments lacked privilege escalation risks. The findings are based on 145 healthcare respondents, primarily in the United States, within a global survey of 2,317 security professionals conducted in early 2026.
