Oct 16, 2026
The fanless MINISFORUM S5 supports five NVMe SSDs, 10GbE networking and local AI agent tasks. Prices start at $599.

MINISFORUM introduced the S5, a fanless 5 bay all flash network attached storage system with support for local AI agents, in a press release. The system uses an Intel Core 3 304 processor with five cores and a maximum clock speed of 4.3 GHz.

The S5 supports five M.2 NVMe SSDs with up to 40 TB of total storage. Connectivity includes 10GbE and 2.5GbE network ports, Wi-Fi and two USB4 ports with speeds of up to 40 Gbps. A heat pipe and cooling fins provide passive cooling without system fans.

A dedicated NPU provides 15 TOPS of INT8 performance for local agent tasks, including wake functions, semantic retrieval and data scheduling. The system can use cloud models for complex instructions while continuing local task processing when a connected PC is off.

The S5 is available with 12 GB of LPDDR5x memory and 128 GB of UFS storage for $599 without NVMe storage. A 20 TB configuration costs $3,759 and is expected to ship in early November.
