MetaOptics Deploys Direct Laser Writer in Taiwan for Metalens Production
MetaOptics Ltd has deployed its Direct Laser Writer system at Pin-Jye Nano Technologies in Taoyuan, Taiwan, announced in a press release. This installation aims to bring metalens prototyping and fabrication closer to the region's semiconductor supply chain, marking a significant step in MetaOptics' global expansion.
The deployment in Taiwan is designed to enhance local development capabilities, allowing partners to iterate faster and transition from concept to product more efficiently. The Taoyuan site will serve as a launchpad for scaling up production and collaboration, with plans to add more Direct Laser Writers and automatic testers to meet the growing demand for metalenses.
MetaOptics is focusing on developing metalens solutions for Co-Packaged Optics (CPO), which is expected to revolutionize AI infrastructure by shifting from copper to light-based data transmission. The company's metalens arrays enable more compact and scalable systems by making optical receivers and transceivers smaller than traditional micro-optics.
In addition to expanding metalens production capacity in Taiwan, MetaOptics is exploring a presence in the United States to better serve key customers. The company has secured long lead components to facilitate faster replication of its Direct Laser Writers, aiming to advance its technology to handle 12-inch formats with simultaneous multi-lens writing, thereby increasing throughput and unlocking new scaling opportunities.
