MDA Space Partners with Canada and Telesat on Arctic Military Satellite Communications
MDA Space Ltd. has signed a strategic partnership with the Government of Canada and Telesat to develop and deliver military satellite communications capabilities, announced in a press release. The project is part of the Enhanced Satellite Communication Project – Polar (ESCP-P), led by Canada's Defence Investment Agency.
The ESCP-P program will enhance the ability of the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Canadian Armed Forces to conduct sovereignty operations in the Arctic. It will provide secure wideband and narrowband satellite communications for continental defence missions.
The Government of Canada selected MDA Space and Telesat for their expertise in satellite communications and space-based infrastructure. The initiative will also support domestic industry through the application of Canada’s Industrial and Technological Benefits Policy, creating high-value jobs and strengthening the national space and defence sectors.
