Mainspring Signs 1.6 GW Generator Agreement With AEP
Mainspring Energy has signed a sales agreement to provide American Electric Power (AEP) with up to 1.6 GW of Mainspring Linear Generators through 2034, the company said in a press release. AEP purchased a first tranche of 190 MW for delivery beginning in 2027.
Mainspring calls it the largest procurement of linear generators to date. The company says the fuel flexible, low emissions generators give utilities a rapidly deployable asset that supports increased power demands from AI data centers, manufacturing and electrification. "Mainspring's linear generators can provide additional capacity quickly and efficiently," said AEP chief executive Bill Fehrman.
Mainspring began commercial shipments in 2020. The agreement extends its business beyond commercial, industrial and data center customers into the investor owned utility sector.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?
Tensordyne
This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
