Lumen Technologies and IBM have announced a collaboration to develop enterprise-grade AI solutions at the edge, announced in a press release. This partnership aims to integrate IBM's watsonx AI products with Lumen's Edge Cloud infrastructure, bringing real-time AI inferencing closer to where data is generated.

The collaboration will leverage Lumen's low-latency, high-throughput infrastructure to deploy AI inferencing solutions optimized for the edge. By utilizing IBM watsonx technology in Lumen's edge data centers, the companies aim to help clients in industries such as financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and retail analyze large volumes of data in near real-time. This approach is designed to minimize latency and enhance decision-making while maintaining data control and security.

IBM Consulting will serve as the preferred systems integrator, assisting clients in scaling deployments and reducing costs. The collaboration is expected to enable real-world use cases, such as enhancing customer service with AI-driven digital assistants and visual inspection tools in the retail sector, ultimately delivering smarter and faster customer experiences.
