Lightera and Nokia Partner to Expand Optical LAN Adoption in Europe
Lightera and Nokia Corporation announced in a press release a collaboration to accelerate the adoption of Optical LAN solutions among enterprises in Europe. The initiative builds on the companies' previous partnerships in other regions and aims to deliver fiber-based network infrastructure that supports higher speeds, improved reliability, and enhanced security.
Under the agreement, Lightera will integrate its passive optical infrastructure with Nokia's GPON, XGS-PON, and 25G-PON technologies. The joint solution will include consulting, start-up services, and continuous technical support and training. Lightera plans to work with its ecosystem of integrators and channel partners to expand Optical LAN deployments across sectors such as hospitality, education, healthcare, and manufacturing.
Optical LAN, also known as Passive Optical LAN, replaces traditional copper and switch-based networks with fiber architecture. The design reduces energy consumption, lowers total cost of ownership, and simplifies network management while offering longer reach and scalability. The companies stated that this collaboration will help enterprises modernize their connectivity infrastructure to meet growing network demands driven by AI and digital transformation.
