IBM Introduces Bob AI Development Partner for Enterprise Software Teams
IBM announced in a press release the global availability of IBM Bob, an AI-first development partner built for enterprise software teams. The platform supports every stage of the software development lifecycle, including planning, coding, testing, deployment, and modernization, while integrating governance and security controls.
IBM Bob uses multi model orchestration to automatically route tasks to suitable models based on accuracy, performance, and cost. It combines models such as Anthropic Claude, Mistral open source models, and IBM Granite with specialized fine tuned models for code reasoning and security. The system also includes prompt normalization, data scanning, policy enforcement, and AI red teaming as part of its security framework.
The platform was first deployed internally at IBM in June 2025 and is now used by more than 80,000 employees who report an average productivity gain of 45 percent. Teams at IBM Instana and IBM Maximo recorded time savings of up to 70 percent for selected coding and refactoring tasks.
External organizations such as Ernst & Young, Blue Pearl, and APIS IT have also adopted IBM Bob for modernization projects. For example, Blue Pearl reduced a 30 day Java upgrade to three days, saving over 160 engineering hours. The service is available as a SaaS product with a 30 day trial, and on premises deployment is planned for the future.
